We reached out to CEH not sure of the process and a bit overwhelmed. Markus immediately reached out and gave us an incredibly thorough overview of the process including details on timelines and pricing. I really appreciated the transparency and honesty from the beginning (which I did not find at some other companies I inquired with). We were connected with a project manager quickly and were able to get started which was important to us since we knew what we wanted and did not want to waste too much time onboarding. The entire team has been helpful, timely, and truly gone above and beyond, especially when navigating tricky county codes and permitting. We are currently just wrapping up the permitting process (yay!) and the house is partially complete in the factory. It’s also been really fun to get to pick out trims, colors, fixtures, etc. which are all included and will make it much easier down the line when we’re ready to move in. Trying to buy a home that is affordable without needing much work is impossible in San Diego. We researched other options after we sold our home and decided to purchase land and have a modular home built. After researching multiple modular home builders, we decided on Cutting Edge and are so relieved that we did! We’ve never built a house before and Chris at Cutting Edge has been a life saver! He walks us through every step of the way. Their engineers do great work and our plans were accepted on the first go! They’ve been up from and honest on time frames and have never been promised anything that they couldn’t deliver. We still have a lot of work to do but a big hurdle (plans) has been accomplished!

Not that the project went off without a hitch. If we learned one thing about building a home, it is to expect the unexpected. In our case, it involved damages done to the home in transit to the site. Happily, Chris smoothly resolved the issues with the factory in terms of a speedy and professional repair of the damages. And that was not the only obstacle along the way. But throughout the project, Chris’ excellent communication skills were a key to overcoming the various challenges we faced.

We purchased a home from Cutting Edge Homes back in 2008. They were diligent in addressing complicated delivery issues (low overhead train tracks that prevented the home from going under the tracks) and unusual circumstances with the approving authority in what was required. All of the items were dealt with on a timely basis along with anything else that came up. They built us exactly the home that we wanted, and built it exactly the way that we wanted it to make it our own.

Throughout the process they were courteous and fair and it was evident all through the process that they cared about us. Us being satisfied was important to Cutting Edge Homes then, and as it turns out, over the years that has never changed.

One of the reps swung by the house and we let him know that there were a couple of electrical issues in the panel and the team jumped right on it to get the factory service people to address it. They came out and fixed the electrical issues to our satisfaction.

Over 10 years later and I called Cutting Edge Homes to ask a couple of general questions as we are considering selling our home. The same experienced and warm-hearted people are still there and remembered me instantly. They did everything they could to assist us to make sure that all questions were answered, even discussed the quality of the home with the person writing up the offer on the home. What other companies do that after a full decade?

We have loved living in our house these ten years. If we ever build another modular home in California, this will certainly be our first call.

Our Project Manger Chris at Cutting Edge Homes is Awesome!! When we started the progress I had a million questions and I emailed Chris with all of my concerns. Yesterday we signed our contract with owner Isaac Lassiter immediately after receiving approval from the Historic Review Board to rebuild our home destroyed during the Santa Rosa fire. My family and I lost our home in Sonoma County in the 2017 fires. We were suddenly forced to build a new home in a short time period with no experience. The quality of our house is amazing. Energy efficiency is really big for us. We are working with an energy consulting group to qualify for a few rebates for solar power. The energy calculations on our house were 20% above energy standards, we qualified without having to make any upgrades with a standard CEM house.

The owner of CEH made multiple trips to our property and kept our kids up to date with photos of the house being built.
